Brushed Chrome? Faux Leather? What does it all mean!?
The world of bar stools can very easily suck you in and spit you out feeling more confused and undecided as you were when you went through the rabbit hole. We at Simply Bar Stools understand this and as a result have produced a small and helpful guide to some of our terms that we use here on the site.
Q: Brushed Chrome vs Chrome, which one do I choose?
A: The choice is completely up to you. When referring to chrome or brushed chrome we are referring to the stem and base of the stool you're soon to be sitting on. Our usual finish is the standard chrome whereas we also have a category on the site dedicated to brushed chrome bar stools. The main difference between the two is the duller and softer look the brushed chrome possesses, while the regular chrome brings you a perfect reflection.
Q: Okay, but what's this about faux leather and leather, is one better than the other?
A: Faux leather is a plastic based material that feels and acts like regular leather does, at a more affordable price. It is used in most of our stools, whereas we do also stock real leather bar stools, you can tell if the stool you are buying is genuine leather or not by the name of the stool, we disclose if a stool is faux leather or not. Faux leather isn't prone to flaking or scoring as real leather is, so most prefer the cheaper material; we also offer some stools with real leather variants, suck as the allegro bar stool (real leather vs faux leather)
Q: And what's this about seat movement... surely I can move all of these stools right?
A: You can indeed physically move each of these bar stools, however this area is referring to height adjustability; this one seems more self explanatory, however it's still useful to go over. Fixed height refers to any stool that has no seat height adjustability at all, the height it is is the height it will always be, like our range of Mela bar stools. Gas Lift stools refers to the mechanism used in most of our best selling bar stools which allows you to easily raise and lower the bar stool you're sitting on, you will see these on most of our stools, examples include our Zenith, Carcaso and Sorrento ranges. Finally we come to Swivel bar stools, these stools require you to spin the seat in order to raise or lower the seating height, think of it like a giant screw only much more comfortable. Examples include our Umbria Copper bar stools and our Teramo range.
Q: One thing I've always wanted to know, what's the difference between a domestic and a deluxe stool?
A: Our domestic range of bar stools refers to any non weighted, standard bar stool we sell, we offer deluxe variants of these stools for a higher price but they come with a few additional features. The gas lift is made to a higher quality with parts designed to make the process as smooth as possible. The base of the deluxe stools are made from cast iron, giving them further stability and a quality weighted feeling; as well as this they come with an extended warranty which protects them against damage for longer. Finally the seat material is made to a higher quality, either opting for higher quality faux leather or real leather, again we disclose which is which in the product name.
Q: Glad that's cleared up... I'm looking to buy a set, where should I go for this?
A: If you're referring to a pair of bar stools we have a section dedicated to it, while also offering pair discounts on every bar stool we sell. If you're looking for a more substantial set we offer stool and table packages which include anywhere up to 4 stools and a range of different table tops to choose from. We definitely believe this is the easiest way to shop with us if you're looking for a bar table too.
